Our team is dedicated to world class service and superlative engineering and design- not to mention a passion for books. Hyperpedia, is a truly global and virtual enterprise. Extraordinary people working around the world, in an amazing and effective collaboration to produce state of the art technology. With phone, fax and Internet connectivity, team members collaborate across national borders and international time zones. Douglas Aronson and Marcie Gitlin live and work in New York, where business administration and all editorial work is handled. Software development is produced in Belgium, although collaborated on by many members of the team. Graphic design is produced in Amsterdam and eCommerce development from Atlanta. The effective deployment of a truly virtual team, allows the best minds and most creative talent to collaborate synergistically, around the clock, from all over the world.
With the founding of Hyperpedia Corporation Douglas Aronson brings together his skills from business, publishing and technology. A former publisher, he also spent seven years designing advanced computing systems at American Express and on Wall Street for Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch. Douglas is responsible for the vision
behind Hyperpedia and directing a global team of some of the most extraordinary
people working on the Internet.
He holds a degree in philosophy from The City University of New York (CUNY). He is a world traveler, and has a passion for exotic foods, cooking, reading and books, programming and the Internet.
Thierry Waty
Belgian born Thierry Waty brings to Hyperpedia a wealth of IT knowledge and experience. Thierry is responsible for Hyperpedia's application development efforts. A specialist in operating systems, programming languages, and PC software development, Waty has spent more than a decade developing software for numerous individual and corporate clients, most recently for the European Commission.
Thian Yeo
Thian is a master Web designer from Singapore who works from Holland. He has both studied and practiced graphic design throughout the world. He has designed many extraordinary sites of his own as well as for clients of his own firm. Recently Thian has managed Internet projects for Benecke Nexus Infopress and Qumulus, both in the Netherlands. Thian is responsible for all design aspects of Hyperpedia, including our Web site, identity, applications and book design. He has done graphic design for such clients as I-AM Company Pte Ltd., in Singapore and San Francisco, and the President Merlin Hotel in Singapore. Thian studied various forms of art and design in Singapore, the United States and Holland. He has degrees in Applied Arts from Baharuddin Vocational Institute in Singapore, Fine Art Photography from De Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Holland, and the Academy of Art College in San Francisco and has also studied illustration. Thian is a lover and connoisseur of exotic food and has done several award winning food related Web sites. He is currently working on a Southeast Asian cookbook featuring Singaporean and Malaysian food.
Marcie
S. Gitlin
Vice President of Operations A native New Yorker, Marcie joined Hyperpedia after nearly two decades in a variety of cultural and arts related positions, where her "eagle eye" and discerning pen have been put to good use. Marcie runs all aspects of Hyperpedia's corporate operations and oversees the copy writing and proof reading of our Web site. She has held administrative positions at several of the world's finest museums including The Museum of Modern Art and the Brooklyn Museum. Most recently she has worked for WNYC Radio, New York's premier public radio station, in Marketing & Development. She is a graduate of Cornell University with a degree in Russian Studies. While in elementary school, she won the New York round of the National Spelling Bee, and placed fifth nationally. A world traveler (Europe, the former Soviet Union, South Africa, China, and Vietnam), Marcie also speaks French and Russian and is a confirmed Asianophile. Jeff Gordon
Jeff Gordon is a fellow who finds, "Everything's just so darned interesting...!" He did his first computer programming in 1964, using Algol on a Burroughs 5500 desk computer, when he attended a Summer Science Institute at Emory University at age 14. Since then he's worked with BASIC; Fortran; his favored language, Prolog; and now the "post-modern" language, Perl. He is one of only 20 members of Selena Sol's Extropia Developers Network. Jeff has designed and implemented Hyperpedia's extraordinary proprietary online store technology. He and his brother operate the philanthropic endeavor, Well Now Health Information Service, which provides information on 'alternative' approaches to human health on request at no charge.
Arthur Papikian
Arthur is managing Hyperpedia's efforts in the Russian market, bringing Hyperpedia to Russia and other Eastern European nations. Arthur was born in 1971 in the Ukraine
(USSR). He studied at the Moscow International Finance Academy and the University
of Birmingham, Faculty of Social Science, graduating with a Bachelor's
degree in economics.
He worked for a major Russian oil production and trading
company, AO Neftegaz, as an Assistant Vice President, in charge of
international projects and trade finance. Subsequently, he began working for friends
who ran a taxicab business in Moscow. Currently, he is Senior Vice President, in charge of strategic development, for the Metropolitan Moscow Taxicab Corp. His interests include computers and the Internet, as well as literature, history, defense studies, philosophy, psychology and language studies. He has been involved in the development of various corporate Internet projects since 1994 as a project coordinator and manager. He is fluent in Russian, Armenian, Ukrainian and English, and speaks some Spanish.
Philippe Escoyez
Philippe is a professional translator who is overseeing many of Hyperpedia's European language sites. He is based in Brussels Belgium and has worked for the Press Department of The European Commission (EU). Philippe is fluent in English, French,
German and Italian. He is an avid reader and loves crossword puzzles. When
he is not at a computer he takes frequent long-distance bicycle tours across
Europe.
